PFOA FINAL Public Notice April 20, 2024 -Completed all Remedial Actions

Ho-Ho-Kus Water Department has Completed all Remedial Actions and has Resolved the Violation/Situation

Ho-Ho-Kus Water Department previously notified you regarding the Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) and Perfluorononanoic Acid (PFNA) Maximum Containment Level (MCL) exceedances on January 13, 2024.

The Ho-Ho-Kus Water System has completed installation of the necessary treatment to remove these compounds from the drinking water and placed the new systems in service on March 26, 2024. Samples collected on March 26, April 2, and April 9, 2024, demonstrate that the water provided by our water system is now below detection for PFOA and PFNA at all locations.

Our previous Running Annual Average for PFOA reported on January 13, 2024 was 0.022 µg/L for TP001001, 0.018 µg/L for TP002004, 0.018 µg/L for TP003007, and 0.025 µg/L for TP004009, so now that treated samples show PFOA below detection our system is in compliance with the MCL of 0.014 µg/L.

The RAA for PFNA reported in October 15, 2021 showed that our system exceeded the PFNA MCL at TP004009 with a RAA of 0.015 µg/L, so now that treated samples show PFNA below detection our system is in compliance with the PFNA MCL of 0.013 µg/L.

This notice is our final notification regarding these violations to ensure our consumers are aware that the water being provided is in compliance with the PFOA and PFNA MCLs.
