Council President Douglas Troast

Doug and his wife, Joanie, have been residents of Ho-Ho-Kus for more than 28 years.  They raised three children, Keenan, Duncan and Chloe in the Borough, all attending the HHK/Waldwick Co-op Nursery School, HHK Public School and Northern Highlands High School.  They have been members of the Saint Gabriel’s church for 28 years.  Doug enjoyed coaching his children in rec soccer, baseball and basketball. Doug served on Governor Whitman’s Property Tax Commission and the Bergen County Construction Board of Appeals. He served as a member of the HHK Zoning Board until first elected to the Council in 2000.  In his over 20 years serving on the Council, Doug has served a Chairperson of DPW, the HHK Water Department, Liaison to Zoning Board, Finance Committee Chair and Commissioner of the HHK Fire Department. Councilman Troast currently serves as Council President and Commissioner of the HHK Police Department. Doug is a strong advocate of fiscal responsibility and serves to ensure we remain the welcoming and highly rated community our residents’ value and cherish.
