Town-wide Collection Residential Solid Waste and Recyclables for Borough Residents

In 1997, the Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus created the Solid Waste Commission and undertook the task of receiving bids for town-wide residential solid waste and recycling collection. The utility established two zones for collection and rates, which are listed in the following pages.

NEW SOLID WASTE CONTRACT EFFECTIVE AS OF JANUARY 1, 2020 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2024.

After the completion of a formal bidding process, the Borough has signed a new five-year contract with Suburban Disposal for the collection of our solid waste and recycling. Suburban was the only bidder, as other haulers will not offer the in-yard service our residents have come to expectSolid Waste rates will be increasing over the next few years as we phase in the increase. Major changes to recycling cost and market conditions are trending up substantially.

The 2024 rates for homes west of West Saddle River Road (most homes in town), rate zone A, will be $230.00 per quarter. For homes east of RT 17, and north of Hollywood Ave, and those on and east of West Saddle River Road, rate zone B, the new rate will be $260.00 per quarter. See the list for schedule and zone clarity!
